Differences Between SmartLipo and Traditional Liposuction

With traditional liposuction, the patient is under anesthesia, so they are not awake during the procedure. This is because the doctor must make incisions and use an instrument known as a cannula, which sucks the fat out of the affected area. Because the fat is sucked and scraped out using and back-and-forth motion, many patients who have opted for traditional liposuction sometimes suffer scars, soreness, and bruising. Sometimes the anesthesia makes people feel physically ill, and sometimes the anesthesia makes patients feel groggy for an hour or so after the operation.

With SmartLipo, you would actually be awake during the entire procedure. A tiny incision is made either just above or below the area affected, and the doctor uses three different heat degrees of laser to melt the fat. The first laser melts the fat. The second laser helps the body tighten the skin naturally. The third laser cauterizes the little incision, promoting healing and keeping any blood loss to a minimum.
